History
The Mk 4 GMLS was fitted on the Baltimore class cruisers Boston and Canberra, replacing the aft gun turrets. The first installation was commissioned in 1955. In 1961 the first non-US Navy installation was commissioned, the Italian Missile cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi. This was also a conversion of a former gun cruiser. The Boston and Canberra installations were decommissioned in 1970, followed by the Italian installation in 1971.
The GMLS was used only with the early RIM-2A and RIM-2B Terrier missiles.
The Mk 4 is the only Terrier GMLS where the missiles were stored vertically. The magazine of both Mod 1 and Mod 0 had an capacity of 74 missiles. Mod 1 was the superfiring installation, and was identical to the Mod 0 except for an lengthened loader rail.

Part description
Red lines show decks around the installation. The drawing has belowdeck installation drawn in, which requires covering for use on a finished shipbucket drawing. The Terrier missile underneath the part drawing is oversized for detail, the missiles in the part are correctly sized. For clarity they are shown in blue (training round) colour.
