Mk 16 ASROC Launching Group
History
The Mk 16 ASROC Launching Group was the system allowing RUR-5 ASROC to be fired. It consisted of an Mk 112 launcher and it's control systems. Some configurations of the system allowed the firing of RIM-24 Tartar and RGM-84 Harpoon missiles. The Mk 16 system was first used in 1961 on an USN ship, and first exported in 1965. In US Navy service the system was decommissioned in 1995, operationally replaced by RUM-139 VL ASROC from an Mk 41 VLS
