History

The development of the 130mm/58 SM-2-1 was started in 1943, but the prototype was only completed in 1948. It entered service on the Neustrashimy class in 1957. It was also used by the PRC on their Luda class, operational from 1971 to 1999, but those mountings have a slightly different shape and lacks the stabilization and radar found on Russian mountings. The Chinese mounting is called the 130mm/58 Mk 76. The mountings remained in Russian naval service until 1992 on the Kotlin class.

The mounting used Shtag-B radar rangefinders on-mount.
