History
The V-11 mounting was designed from 1940 onwards and the first prototype entered trials in 1944. The mounting was accepted for service in 1946 and production went on until 1957.
The V-11 was a twin water cooled mount for the Army 37 mm 61-K gun. These guns were compared in trials to the 40mm/56 bofors guns and no significant differences in performance were found. The V-11M mounting was externally the same.
