== History ==s The AN/SPS-30 was developed from the AN/SPS-8B. It was considered to be the ultimate mechanical heightfinder radar in USN service. It was originally conceived as an new antenna for SPS-8 and SPS-8A, to upgrade existing installations. By also fitting an new transmitter tube the radar had changed enough to receive the new SPS-30 designation. No upgrades were ever carried out, although it entered production as completely new build units. The first entered service in 1957.
