The MLS was an box launcher, designed to fire the RIM-66 Standard MR missile in the role of an anti-ship missile. The MLS consisted of an Mk 134 launcher and it's supporting belowdeck systems. The Mk 134 had space for one Standard missile, often coupled with an reloader with space for an additional one.
