The Rio Grande Republic closely shadows Texas and its independence movement, gaining independence in 1840. Mexico was still weak from its war of independence from Spain and in 1829, when Spain tried to recapture Mexico, the Mexicans won but at large cost. After the Texas Revolution, Mexico was militarily too weak and this allowed the Rio Grande Republic to gain their independence.
Spanish and English are the official languages of Rio Grande.
Rio Grande and Texas have an open-borders policy to promote economic prosperity between the two countries.
Railways
Ferrocarril de Río Grande is the national railway network of Rio Grande. It is headquartered in Laredo.
