The Skoric Daugrech(Skoran: Skoric Daugrech), officially the Skoric Peoples Socialist State(SPSS), is a nation that spans much of northern Ariethia. It possesses a population in excess of 120 million, the fifth most populous country in the world. It is a traditionally federal socialist union(FSU), comprised of 22 regions of limited autonomy. With an area of 2.2 million square kilometers, it is the third-largest country by total land area. The most populous city which is also its largest financial center, is Suric, within the Skuraggard SAS. At the time of its inception, it was the first true constitutionally socialist country.
The Skoric Daugrech can trace its roots back to its progenitor, the Askorian Empire, formed in 1778. It was a union of 58 holy kingdoms, and responsible for much of the modern borders of the Skoric Daugrech. From the 19'th to early 20'th century, the Askorian Empire lagged behind its peers in numerous strategic areas- namely when it came to the economy. Increasing unrest- which were often crushed through violence, emboldened the efforts of protesters across the Empire. It would all eventually culminate into the Skoric Civil War, which lasted from 1904-1911. The Skoric Socialist Front would emerge victorious out of this civil war, establishing control over much of the former Empire. The royal family would be exiled from country- except the then-reigning Emperor, who was executed in the capital. The post-civil war conditions saw Empire sympathizers violently persecuted by the populace and government. Skoric rule would oversee four major socialist projects; the employment of free, government-subsidized healthcare(Sozamzhalans Initsativ), a universal basic income(Sozamzekonomis Initsativ), the Industrial Policy(Shlenndustry Politik), and the cultural policy(Odlern Politik).
Under the leadership of Loymen Ghauss, leader of the Skoric Socialist Front, the Skoric Daugrech saw great improvement. There were large strides in the improvement of the quality of life, food security and industrial capacity of the nation. Under the Industrial Policy, the Skoric Daugrech achieved unprecedented economic growth, recovering from the complete devastation of the Civil War. In 1940, Loyman Ghauss would launch a pre-emptive invasion of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn, formally beginning the Pan-Ariethnian Conflict(PAC). The estimated total of military and civilian casualties is said to exceed 7 million. An uneasy stalemate would be brokered between the Lilaborn-led bloc in 1947, marking an end to hostilities in 1947. In the succeeding years, the Skoric Daugrech would confront the Holy Republic and the then-rising Deysian Federation through various indirect means. The succeeding ten-year period saw intense cold-war paranoia, with heightened tensions and increasing political instability in various low-income countries. The Skoric aligned block, the Autonomous Nations(ATNAS), would compete against the Lilaborn Republic and its allies. in 1964, it would give full support to Mer-Freula for its invasion of Merakistaq. This would contribute to the enacting of a blockade in 1970, referred to as the 'Great Isolation', and would last till the early 2000s. The end of the blockade would pave the way for increasing liberalization of the economy, implementing shock therapy to stimulate the economy back into productivity. This renewed trade brought incredible economic growth to the nation, bringing an era of unprecedented prosperity.
Throughout its entire existence, the Skoric Daugrech has played an instrumental role in the sciences, aiding in the furthering of technological. progress, both military and commercial. As one of the founding members of the Congress of Nations, it possesses a permanent seat on the World Council. At its height, it had the world's second-largest economy, bearing the world's fourth-largest presently. The Skoric Daugrech continues to compete economically, technologically, militarily, and ideologically with its peers.
History
Revolutionary Foundation (1900-1911)
The beginnings of the Skoric Daugrech can be traced to the Skoric city of Leddborg, in the present Hiethagard SAS. It sought to rally support from farmers and city workers to rebel against the Empire. This coincided with rising discontent with brutal and oppressive imperial rule. Though a reformist bill was to be passed, which would technically create a constitutional monarchy- this was blocked by aristocrats, however. A boiling point would later be reached in 1904, which rapidly deteriorated into full-blown protests across all major cities within the Empire. The mobilizing of the Royal Guard Corpus to fight these protests only added more fuel to the fire. In an attempt to curtail further riots, the Empire would request the help of the aristocratic houses- whom often operated their private militias for their respective kingdom. This would have little effect however, and by around 1900, the protests would turn to a full-fledged rebellion, sparking the Civil War.
By the first year, the Royal government would find itself stabbed in the back by certain aristocrats, who wished to carve out their own section of the empire and claim it as their own. This would pit the Askorian Empire against aristocratic militias and also the now strengthening Skoric Socialist Front, whom under the leadership of Loymen Ghauss, fought valiantly against Imperial forces. This civil war wou;d end in ten million casualties, with the Skoric Socialist Front taking the brunt of the losses. After a brutal struggle, the Skoric Socialist Front would find itself the lone survivor in 1911. Many Skoric aristocrats were either assassinated or escaped to the HRL. A formal peace deal would be signed, and Empire soldiers laid down their arms, providing a stop to the fighting. A portion of the Skoric far west, meanwhile, was incorporated into the HRL, which would provoke much disdain later on.
Post-War Reconstruction and Social Reforms
With the creation of the Skoric Peoples' Socialist State, socialism would be put to the test in a sea of monarchies and kingdoms. Having emerged from the civil war, the Skoric Daugrech suffered from incredible devastation. Scorched earth tactics left much of the nation's infrastructure destroyed, with transportation and travel essentially paralyzed. As such, Loymen Ghauss would find it important to fund reconstruction efforts to allow for a fast recovery. Efforts were also made to restore the national spirit and further stimulate socialist sentiments within the country.
The Skoric Daugrech would also implement numerous social reforms, focusing on equality and equity for all. The government planned for a comprehensive healthcare system, and offered heavily subsidized medical services to all citizens, to further reduce mortality from the civil-war. Vaccination campaigns and clean water initiatives were also crucial in ensuring the populace was healthy, and it was all funded through the Royal Family's gold reserves. Disease-related mortality and infant mortality would plummet thanks to these initiatives, and would contribute to the rise of Skoric industry, and its prominence on the global stage in later decades. Food security, which was a problem, was also dealt with promptly. Agriculture was heavily subsidized, and there was also the introduction of agricultural collectives, so as to secure the supply of food. These collectives encouraged the participation of farming within the community, to provide a boost to agricultural productivity. Increasing mechanization through the import of farming equipment would also help in enhancing crop yields. Food meanwhile would be handed out in the form of food staples for very affordable prices, but would be targeted at devastated cities and towns to help those that needed it the most.
In terms of industrial development, the Skoric Daugrech made immense sweeping changes. Factories were modernized, with the introduction of new machines and manufacturing processes which made production more efficient. the 'Shlenndustry initastiv' helped to prop up a competitive Skoric heavy industry, that would allow it to compete among the industrialized nations of the world. Factories were modernized, introducing new machines and manufacturing processes. These all contributed to expanding the industrial capacity. Massive investments were made by the state to expand heavy industry and also infrastructure. This would lead to the Skoric economy becoming highly competitive among the industrialized nations of the world, and this all happened within a few short years. This economic miracle, so to say, is said to have emboldened socialist groups across the globe, as the Skoric Daugrech was considered a shining beacon of socialism.
Political Landscape and Suppression of Opposition
The Skoric People's Socialist State set about consolidating its political control. Opposition forces, including nationalists, monarchists, and democrats, faced systematic suppression. The government established a vast network of surveillance, ensuring that the Skoric Socialist Party maintained a means to survey for dissent. To maintain ideological purity, the education system also changed, with a strong focus on inculcating socialist values from a young age. The Skoric Daugrech attempted to drive home the fact that socialism was the optimal way to govern an econoy, in that socialist values.
Media censorship was stringent too, and journalists were required to adhere to strict guidelines. State-controlled media outlets disseminated propaganda to reinforce the party's narrative, while dissenting voices were systematically silenced. Cultural expression was generally allowed, however, artists and writers were generally 'encouraged' to create works that adhered to the state's ideology.
The Pan-Ariethnian War and Aftermath
The outbreak of the Pan-Ariethnian War in 1940 marked a turning point in the history of the Skoric Daugrech. Skoric spies had relayed information that the Holy Republic of Lilaborn was mobilizing for a potential invasion, alongside other states that bordered the Skoric Daugrech. Thus, The Skoric Daugrech attempted a pre-emptive invasion of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn. It was considered the 'first shot' of the Pan-Ariethnian Conflict (PAC). The war involved a massive amount of military material and included mass mobilization on a never-before-seen scale. Skoric industry was almost entirely honed for the production of war material, to ensure maximum combat effectiveness.
The war saw the Skoric Daugrech engage in and also suffer intense aerial bombings and chemical warfare. The death toll was staggering, with entire cities reduced to dust. In the wake of the conflict, the Skoric Daugrech was ultimately beaten back, but not defeated. Much like its rival, it faced the herculean task of post-war reconstruction, considering that large segments of its infrastructure lay in rubble.

The Skoric Daugrech's highly centralized military alliance, known as The Autonomous Nations(or ATNAS), served as a bulwark against regional and international adversaries. The alliance played an important role in safeguarding the Skoric Daugrech's interests and bolstering its position on the world stage.
The Skoric Daugrech was active in supporting various proxy wars, providing military and logistical aid to socialist rebel groups in central Deysia and Noshkovia, often against the influence of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn, These proxy wars further destabilized the region and drew the Skoric Daugrech deeper into the global power struggle.
In 1966, the Skoric Daugrech shocked the world by becoming the first nation to employ Silvum gas, a novel chemical weapon, during the short but intense Second Ruvian-Skoric War. The use of this weapon drew international condemnation, leading to calls for disarmament and a renewed focus on chemical weapons regulations. It eventually led to a chemical weapons ban and the near-total destruction of chemical weapons stocks around the globe.
The Deysian Federation and the HRL's blockade in the early 1970s posed a significant challenge to the Skoric Daugrech's economic and military growth. It forced the nation to explore alternative sources for rare-earth metals and critical chemicals essential for its industries. As a result, the Skoric Daugrech was forced into a period of isolation from the global market, a period referred to as the "Great Isolation."
During this time, the Skoric Daugrech leveraged its influence over ATNAS, a group of socialist nations that provided vital trade partners and economic support. The Muwaic PSR became the Skoric Daugrech's primary trading partner, and the economic relationship between the two nations deepened significantly during this period. This led the Skoric Daugrech to get into unequal trade treaties.
The Skoric Daugrech's economic resilience and adaptive policies helped it to overcome the challenges of the blockade. While import restrictions and trade embargoes persisted, the Skoric Daugrech continued to develop its industrial base, diversifying its economy and achieving notable self-sufficiency. Military
The Skoric Peoples Socialist State maintained a professional army, ranking second in the GSI index in 2005 for defense capability. Spending a total of 7% of its GDP on defense(2015) the Skoric Military ranked second in military spending. The Skoric armed forces, formed shortly after the official proclamation of the Skoric Socialist State, maintains six main branches; Ground Forces, Air Forces, Naval Forces, Strategic Missile Forces, Air-defense forces, and Domestic Security Forces. The various branches of the armed forces, along with military policy, are headed by Skoric High Command. Much of the military bureaucracy occurs in a large military installation called 'Hesher' or Facility B2, which is located at a remote location in the Suraggard SAS.
The Skoric military has largely been a ground and air-focused force, its military largely prepared to repel any potential incursion from its eastern and southern flanks. The Skoric State Air Force aids in the extensive support of the ground forces via the operation of large radar installations, unmanned drones and other surveillance aircraft. The Skoric navy played a large role in the geopolitical importance of the Skoric Daugrech however its effect had largely diminished through gradual cuts in budget and the size of the fleet.The Skoric army has long adhered to the military tradition practiced within the Askorian Empire. Its military past, going back nearly two hundred years, permeates much of Skoric society, thinking and culture. In 2010, there existed some 3 million soldiers, 1.6 million of which served in the Skoric Army. These 1.6 million were divided into 160 divisions, 135 of which served as motorized infantry, with 25 serving as armored divisions. Some 400,000 meanwhile would serve in the Skoric Naval forces. The Skoric Air Force, which mainly existed as a means of air defense and air superiority fielded a large fleet of air superiority fighters. Alongside this, it would also maintain a sizable fleet of nuclear-capable strategic bombers. The Skoric Missile Forces operated more than 1300 ICBMs, deployed across some estimated 20 bases, and 178 command centers. In the late stages of the Skoric Daugrech's existence, it would aid the Muwgawana PSR in crushing a revolt in its northeast province. This would mark the last overseas deployment of the Skoric Expeditionary Force.
For much of the Skoric Daugrech's existence, conscription would be continually in effect. Mandatory conscription would be relaxed in the 2000's, by which a pivot in policy led to the transformation of the Skoric army to a volunteer force.
