The Skoric Daugrech, officially the Skoric Peoples Socialist State, is a nation that spanned much of northern Ariethia from 1911 to 2027. It was a traditionally federal socialist union(FSU), composed of 22 regions of limited individual autonomy headed by a supreme council. Its economy and government were quite centralized up until the late 2000's. The most populous city which is also its largest financial center is Suric, In the Skuraggard SAS. At the time of its inception, it was the first true constitutionally socialist country.

The Empire of Askoria was formed in 1778, uniting the 58 Holy Kingdoms, and being responsible for the modern borders of the Skoric Daugrech. From the 19th century to the early 20th century, the Empire of Askoria faced mass unrest due to unpopular measures enacted by the Royal Family. This discontent with the then Emperor culminated into the 1904-1911 Skoric Civil War. The Skoric Socialist Front would emerge victorious in 1911, establishing control over much of the former Empire of Askoria. The Royal Family was exiled from the Skoric Daugrech, except for the Emperor, who was executed. Empire sympathizers were violently persecuted by the populace and the government in the years after the Civil War. Skoric rule saw four major socialist projects undertaken; the employment of free, government-funded healthcare(Sozamzhalans Initsativ), a universal basic income(Sozamzekonomis Initsativ), The Industrial Policy(Shlenndustry Politik), and the Cultural Policy(Odlern Politik).

Under the leadership of Loymen Ghauss, who headed the Skoric Socialist Front, the Skoric Daugrech saw great improvement. The nation saw large strides in the improvement of the quality of life, food security, and industrial capacity of the nation. Under his rule, the Skoric Daugrech achieved unprecedented economic growth, recovering from the famine caused by the Civil War. In 1940, he would take action to launch a pre-emptive invasion of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn, formally beginning the Pan-Ariethnian Conflict (PAC). The estimated total of military and civilian casualties is said to be around 7 million. An uneasy stalemate between the Lilaborn-led bloc in 1947 would mark the official end of hostilities. In the succeeding years after the Pan-Ariethnian Conflict, the Skoric Daugrech and its allies would confront the Holy Lilaborn Republic and the then-rising Deysian Federation through various indirect means. This ten-year period saw heightened tensions, a burst of proxy wars and increasing political instability, as well as the increased proliferation of nuclear and biological weapons. The Skoric aligned block, the Autonomous Nations(ATNAS), would be the main rival against the Lilaborn Republic and its allies. In 1964, it would support Mer-Freula through material aid to win the Mer-Freula-Merakistaq war. This would contribute to the 1970's Blockade of the Skoric Daugrech which would last till the 2000s, referred to by the populace as the 'Great Isolation'. The end of the blockade paved the way for a partial privatization of the economy. Renewed trade brought incredible economic growth to the nation, ushering in a new era of prosperity. In 2027, the Skoric Daugrech would officially be dissolved via a referendum, succeeded by the Federated Skoric Republics.

Over the course of its entire existence, the Skoric Daugrech played an instrumental role in the sciences, aiding in the development of technologies both military and commercial. As one of the founding members of the Congress of Nations, it possessed a permanent seat on the World Council. At its height, it had the world's second-largest economy, bearing the world's fourth-largest at the time of its dissolution. The Skoric Daugrech would comprise one out of the three reigning superpowers of the world, alongside the Holy Lilaborn Republic and the Deysian Federation. It would compete economically, technologically, militarily, and ideologically with its peers until its dissolution.

History

Revolutionary Foundation (1900-1911)

Reports on the actual beginnings of a Skoric socialist revolution are not quite exact, but it is believed to begun within the Askorian Empire in and around 1892, at which time general discontent with imperial rule was soaring. Although the country was on track to become a constitutional monarchy under a reformist bill, resistance to its actual resolution by the aristocratic Houses would continue to delay its passing. After reaching a boiling point, protests would erupt across the country, many which would be crushed to varying levels of effectiveness my the Royal Guard Corps and the Royal Askorian Army. Revolutionary activity would rapidly grow, with government and aristocratic control rapidly deteriorating with each year.

In an attempt to hold onto power, the government would later employ the help of the personal army of the Houses as a means to prevent a possible civil war. However this would do little effect but rile the masses against the government, eventually leading to various popular uprisings across the country. It was around this time, in late 1900, that the informal formation of the Skoric Socialist Front would occur.

By 1901, the Royal government would find itself backstabbed by various aristocrats, namely the heads of the Houses. This pitted the Royal Askorian Army against not only various fringe popular uprisings but also a formidable and professional force that had often received expensive training abroad. The Skoric Socialist Front, under the leadership of Loymen Ghaus would go onto quickly receive the support of the people, while rapidly expanding the volunteer corp. Loymen Ghauss would consolidate his position as leader within the Socialist Front, citing 'temporary measures' however his tenure as supreme leader would continue until his untimely death.

The ensuing Skoric civil war would see some 6 million soldiers of the Socialist Front fight against the various remnants of the Royal Askorian Army, as well as the professional armies of the various Houses. General interest by foreign powers would lead to a lack of support for the House forces, as it was seen as being more beneficial to give legitimacy to the Socialist Front, under the assumption that various one-sided deals could be made to the new and weak Socialist government. The bloody Skoric civil war would end in total victory for the Socialist Front on the 14'th of Noyumbr, 1911. A formal peace deal was signed, but the aristocratic Houses wouldn't be completely disbanded, albeit they would serve the central government under a different drawn out plan.

Post-War Reconstruction and Social Reforms

The birth of the Skoric People's Socialist State marked a pivotal moment in history, having emerged from the chaotic Skoric civil war. Following the formal peace agreement, the aristocratic Houses, while not disbanded entirely, assumed a redefined role within the central government, shaping a new political landscape. The post-war reconstruction efforts in the Skoric Daugrech meanwhile were large. With the destruction left by the Skoric civil war, the government undertook ambitious infrastructure projects, rebuilding war-torn cities and reconnecting the nation through highways and railways. Efforts were also made to restore the national spirit, through the building of monuments to the lives lost in the civil war.

As for social reforms, the Skoric Daugrech went on an ambitious journey to improve the quality of life for its citizens. Comprehensive healthcare systems were established, so as to offer free medical services to all citizens at the government's expense. To address issues of public health and sanitation, mass vaccination campaigns and clean water initiatives were also launched, significantly reducing disease-related mortality. Infant mortality especially plummeted thanks to these initiatives.

Food security would continue to be a top priority, however, and as such the Skoric Daugrech introduced agricultural collectives to ensure a steady food supply. These collectives encouraged community participation in farming, helping to boost agricultural productivity. Increasing mechanization also boosted crop yields. Under Ghauss's leadership, a system of state-owned farms was implemented, providing essential food staples to the populace at affordable prices.

In terms of industrial development, the Skoric Daugrech modernized its factories by introducing new machines and manufacturing processes. These all contributed to expanding the industrial capacity. Massive investments were made in heavy industry and infrastructure, transforming the country into a manufacturing powerhouse. This economic transformation fueled the Skoric Daugrech's rapid ascent to becoming one of the world's leading industrialized nations.

Political Landscape and Suppression of Opposition

The Skoric People's Socialist State set about consolidating its political control. Opposition forces, including nationalists, monarchists, and democrats, faced systematic suppression. The government established a vast network of surveillance, ensuring that the Skoric Socialist Party maintained a means to survey for dissent. To maintain ideological purity, the education system also changed, with a strong focus on inculcating socialist values from a young age. The Skoric Daugrech attempted to drive home the fact that socialism was the optimal way to govern an econoy, in that socialist values.

Media censorship was stringent too, and journalists were required to adhere to strict guidelines. State-controlled media outlets disseminated propaganda to reinforce the party's narrative, while dissenting voices were systematically silenced. Cultural expression was generally allowed, however, artists and writers were generally 'encouraged' to create works that adhered to the state's ideology.

The Pan-Ariethnian War and Aftermath

The outbreak of the Pan-Ariethnian War in 1940 marked a turning point in the history of the Skoric Daugrech. Skoric spies had relayed information that the Holy Republic of Lilaborn was mobilizing for a potential invasion, alongside other states that bordered the Skoric Daugrech. Thus, The Skoric Daugrech attempted a pre-emptive invasion of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn. It was considered the 'first shot' of the Pan-Ariethnian Conflict (PAC). The war involved a massive amount of military material and included mass mobilization on a never-before-seen scale. Skoric industry was almost entirely honed for the production of war material, to ensure maximum combat effectiveness.

The war saw the Skoric Daugrech engage in and also suffer intense aerial bombings and chemical warfare. The death toll was staggering, with entire cities reduced to dust. In the wake of the conflict, the Skoric Daugrech was ultimately beaten back, but not defeated. Much like its rival, it faced the herculean task of post-war reconstruction, considering that large segments of its infrastructure lay in rubble.

The uneasy stalemate reached in 1947 resulted in the Skoric Daugrech consolidating its territories captured in the east and the south. The Skoric Daugrech, although battered, remained intact, and continued to exert its influence throughout its bloc of Socialist nations (ATNAS).

International Tensions and Proxy Wars

In the years following the Pan-Ariethnian War, the Skoric Daugrech and its allies faced complex international tensions, primarily with the Holy Republic of Lilaborn and the rising Deysian Federation. The Skoric Daugrech's highly centralized military alliance, known as The Autonomous Nations(or ATNAS), served as a bulwark against regional and international adversaries. The alliance played an important role in safeguarding the Skoric Daugrech's interests and bolstering its position on the world stage.

The Skoric Daugrech was active in supporting various proxy wars, providing military and logistical aid to socialist rebel groups in central Deysia and Noshkovia, often against the influence of the Holy Republic of Lilaborn, These proxy wars further destabilized the region and drew the Skoric Daugrech deeper into the global power struggle.

In 1966, the Skoric Daugrech shocked the world by becoming the first nation to employ Silvum gas, a novel chemical weapon, during the short but intense Second Ruvian-Skoric War. The use of this weapon drew international condemnation, leading to calls for disarmament and a renewed focus on chemical weapons regulations. It eventually led to a chemical-weapons ban, and the near-total destruction of chemical weapons stocks around the globe.

The Deysian Federation and the H.R.L.'s blockade in the early 1970s posed a significant challenge to the Skoric Daugrech's economic and military growth. It forced the nation to explore alternative sources for rare-earth metals and critical chemicals essential for its industries. As a result, the Skoric Daugrech was forced into a period of isolation from the global market, a period referred to as the "Great Isolation."

During this time, the Skoric Daugrech leveraged its influence over ATNAS, a group of socialist nations that provided vital trade partners and economic support. The Muwaic PSR became the Skoric Daugrech's primary trading partner, and the economic relationship between the two nations deepened significantly during this period. This led the Skoric Daugrech to get into unequal trade treaties.

The Skoric Daugrech's economic resilience and adaptive policies helped it to overcome the challenges of the blockade. While import restrictions and trade embargoes persisted, the Skoric Daugrech continued to develop its industrial base, diversifying its economy and achieving notable self-sufficiency. It is one of few nations that could be said to have successfully committed autarky, however, this is disputed.

Military

The Skoric Peoples Socialist State maintained a professional army, ranking second in the GSI index in 2005 for defense capability. Spending a total of 7% of its GDP on defense(2015) the Skoric Military ranked second in military spending. The Skoric armed forces, formed shortly after the official proclamation of the Skoric Socialist State, maintains six main branches; Ground Forces, Air Forces, Naval Forces, Strategic Missile Forces, Air-defense forces, and Domestic Security Forces. The various branches of the armed forces, along with military policy, are headed by Skoric High Command. Much of the military bureaucracy occurs in a large military installation called 'Hesher' or Facility B2, which is located at a remote location in the Suraggard SAS.

The Skoric military has largely been a ground and air-focused force, its military largely prepared to repel any potential incursion from its eastern and southern flanks. The Skoric State Air Force aids in the extensive support of the ground forces via the operation of large radar installations, unmanned drones and other surveillance aircraft. The Skoric navy played a large role in the geopolitical importance of the Skoric Daugrech however its effect had largely diminished through gradual cuts in budget and the size of the fleet. The Skoric army has long adhered to the military tradition practiced within the Askorian Empire. Its military past, going back nearly two hundred years, permeates much of Skoric society, thinking and culture. In 2010, there existed some 3 million soldiers, 1.6 million of which served in the Skoric Army. These 1.6 million were divided into 160 divisions, 135 of which served as motorized infantry, with 25 serving as armored divisions. Some 400,000 meanwhile would serve in the Skoric Naval forces. The Skoric Air Force, which mainly existed as a means of air defense and air superiority fielded a large fleet of air superiority fighters. Alongside this, it would also maintain a sizable fleet of nuclear-capable strategic bombers. The Skoric Missile Forces operated more than 1300 ICBMs, deployed across some estimated 20 bases, and 178 command centers. In the late stages of the Skoric Daugrech's existence, it would aid the Muwgawana PSR in crushing a revolt in its northeast province. This would mark the last overseas' deployment of the Skoric Expeditionary Force.

For much of the Skoric Daugrech's existence, conscription was in effect up until the 2000s, by which a pivot in policy led to the transformation of the Skoric army to a volunteer force.
