History

The Mk 29 GMLS was an launcher for the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missile. it was part of the IBPDMS system. The launcher was in use in the US Navy and other NATO navies from 1973 onwards.

The launcher had an capacity of 8 missiles and was developed to replace the bulkier Mk 25 GMLS.

The launcher is used on US Navy carriers to fire the RIM-162 ESSM
