History
The problems with the ZiF-75 and ZiF-31 mountings prompted the soviet navy to issue a request for a completely new 57mm weapon system. The prototype was constructed in 1959 and the new mounting, the AK-725, was officially accepted into service in 1964. The AK- 725 was controlled by the ESP-72 fire control system which was itself controlled by the MP-103 Bars radar. The mounting was in production from 1961 tot 1988.
