Coastal Patrol Frigate
The 'Coastal Patrol Frigate' design by Monroe Marine was developed to fill the need in a number of navies for a cheaper frigate design that could be small and basic enough to be built in numbers, but also capable enough to deploy into major war zones. To achieve this the design was developed with a modular approach at it's core enabling the customer to have the option to equip it with the weapons, sensors and equipment desired to customise the ship into anything from a Coast Guard Cutter through to an Aircraft Carrier escort. The launch customer was the Royal Recherche Navy where it is being introduced into service as the Leda Class and slowly supplementing and replacing the older Cascade Class FFH. The design has also been ordered by many other countries in the region on the back of the Recherche order, with construction underway for Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Maddelena and the United Kingdom (where it was the successful bid for the Type 31 project).
