History
The H 8 was the hydraulic catapult used postwar, from roughly 1950 onwards. It was of higher capacity, replacing the wartime H 4B aboard modernised carriers. It had a capacity of 15000 pounds at 120 mph or 762500 pounds at 70 mph (61 knots). It presented the practical upper limit of hydro-pneumatic catapult design.
