The Skoric Daugrech, officially the Skoric Peoples Socialist State, was a large country that spanned much of northern Ariethia from 1911 to 2010. It was a traditionally federal union, composed of 14 various regions of limited individual autonomy that were headed by a supreme council. In essence, both its economy and government were highly centralized until the late 2000's, which through partial privatization and entry into the internet, destabilized it. The Skoric city of Suric, located in the Suraggard SAS served as the administrative and official capital of the state.
The Skoric Daugrech saw its inception during the 1904-1911 Askorian Civil war, which started during the dissolution of the Askorian Empire. Various political leaders from various sides of the political spectrum sought to control the country and seek legitimacy. The Revolutionary Army of the Skoric Socialist Front, headed by Loymen Ghauss, would ultimately find itself victorious against the various other organized armies, including the remnants of the Royal Askorian Army. After the total defeat of opposition forces, the SSF would eventually consolidate their holdings and hand over land to guarantee their continued existence from nearby states. The SSF would formally announce the formation of the Skoric Peoples Socialist State, controlled by the Skoric Socialist Party.
Loymen Ghauss, who headed the Skoric Socialist Front, would go onto become the Svaken until his death in 1955. Under his rule, the country saw large strides in the improvement of the quality of life and healthcare, food security, and industrial capacity of the nation. Significant economic growth was achieved, although the initial famine the government had inherited from the preceding Askorian Empire is said to have stunted its real potential. During the late 1920's to early 1930's, the Skoric government would pursue a policy of political extermination, in a bid to tighten its grip on the political expression of various wings of the defeated warlord armies. In 1940, the Skoric Daugrech would perform a pre-emptive invasion of the Ruverian Empire, opening up the Western Front of the Pan-Ariethnian War. Estimated total military and civilian casualties are said to be at around 7 million. An uneasy stalemate with the Iun in 1947 would mark the official end of hostilities, with various occupied territories being absorbed into each respective country.
In the succeeding years after the Pan-Ariethnian conflict, the Skoric Daugrech and its allies would confront the Ruvian Empire and now rising Deysian Federation through various indirect means. The short ten-year time span in which these tensions existed was marked by a burst of proxy wars, increasing political instability, and increased use and proliferation of nuclear and chemical weapons. The Skoric Aligned bloc would mainly face off against the Ruvian-led bloc of nations, having created its own military alliance, The Autonomous Nations, in 1951 to stand in opposition to national socialist and capitalist values. The Skoric Daugrech would participate and support numerous wars within central Deysia and Noshkovia, as well as rebel groups within the Zoln Empire. The Skoric Daugrech would be the first to use Silvum gas in the Second Ruvian-Skoric War in 1966, a new novel chemical weapon. Shortly after the end of the second Ruvian-Skoric war, a change in foreign policy would alter the way in which foreign countries were dealt with. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's, the Skoric Daugrech would be found isolated forced into self-sufficiency, forcefully integrating multiple countries, namely its allies into a one-sided economic plan, save for the Muwaic PSR. In the late 1990's however, the Skorics, under a new leadership, would open their borders and allow partial privatization within the country. Renewed trade and an influx of Skoric heavy machinery and various other products would highlight the 90's. by the early 2000's, the pursuit of reformation and openness gradually led to a large, but restricted import of foreign computers and phones, which would soon be copied and manufactured for domestic use. Unfiltered propagation of information through the World Wide Web allowed increased freedom for political and creative expression, and would leave a large impact of Skoric culture of perception of the world abroad. Later in 2008, an Obnian separatist group calling themselves the 'Republic of the North Star' initially conceived in a SkoBook discussion board, a chain of events would eventually led to a formidable guerilla army that would actively recruit and wage war against the regional government. An escalation and lack of urgency from the central government would eventually lead the storming of the Skoric parliament by an elite Obnian force. The parliament would then later be irreparably damaged by three tons of plastic explosives. A brief but intense retaliatory campaign would be fought in the Obnian SAS, but ultimately occupying Skoric forces would withdraw under orders of the reigning Svaken and due to the threat of chemical weapons attack in numerous population centers. A cascade of protests across the Daugrech along with a paralyzed leadership would lead to the events of Secembr the 1'st 2010. With the proclamation of the Free Obnian Republic, high-ranking members within the Skoric Socialist Party would declare the dissolution of the Skoric Peoples Socialist State, alongside the Svaken. The Zuran SAS, previously the independent Zuran PSR, would declare independence and secede from the Daugrech the next day.
Over the course of its entire existence, the Skoric Daugrech would play an instrumental role in the sciences, aiding in the development of various technologies both military and commercial. As one of the founding members of the Congress of Nations it possessed a permanent seat on the World Council. At its height it had the world's second-largest economy, bearing the world's fourth-largest and the time of its dissolution. The Skoric Daugrech would compromise one out of the three reigning superpowers of the world, alongside the Ruvian Empire and Deysian Federation and would exercise its control throughout its Socialist Bloc. It would compete economically, technologically, militarily and ideologically with its peers until its total dissolution.
History
Revolutionary foundation (1900-1911)
Reports on the actual beginnings of a Skoric socialist revolution are not quite exact, but it is believed to begun within the Askorian Empire in and around 1892, at which time general discontent with imperial rule was soaring. Although the country was on track to become a constitutional monarchy under a reformist bill, resistance to its actual resolution by the aristocratic Houses would continue to delay its passing. After reaching a boiling point, protests would erupt across the country, many which would be crushed to varying levels of effectiveness my the Royal Guard Corps and the Royal Askorian Army. Revolutionary activity would rapidly grow, with government and aristocratic control rapidly deteriorating with each year.
In attempt to hold onto power, the government would later employ the help of the personal army of the Houses as a means to prevent a possible civil war. However this would do little effect but rile the masses against the government, eventually leading to various popular uprisings across the country. It was around this time, in late 1900, that the informal formation of the Skoric Socialist Front would occur.
By 1901, the Royal government would find itself backstabbed by various aristocrats, namely the heads of the Houses. This pitted the Royal Askorian Army against not only various fringe popular uprisings but also a formidable and professional force that had often received expensive training abroad. The Skoric Socialist Front, under the leadership of Loymen Ghaus would go onto quickly receive the support of the people, while rapidly expanding the volunteer corp. Loymen Ghauss would consolidate his position as leader within the Socialist Front, citing 'temporary measures' however his tenure as supreme leader would continue until his untimely death.
The ensuing Skoric civil war would see some 6 million soldiers of the Socialist Front fight against the various remnants of the Royal Askorian Army, as well as the professional armies of the various Houses. General interest by foreign powers would lead to a lack of support for the House forces, as it was seen as being more beneficial to give legitimacy to the Socialist Front, under the assumption that various one-sided deals could be made to the new and weak Socialist government. The bloody Skoric civil war would end in total victory for the Socialist Front on the 14'th of Noyumbr, 1911. A formal peace deal was signed, but the aristocratic Houses wouldn't be completely disbanded, albeit they would serve the central government under a different drawn out plan.
