History

the AN/SPS-2 was a long range L-band 3-D air search radar which used a stacked beam antenna. Due to it's huge size and weight it was hard to install on most vessels, and it was only installed on 2 ships, USS Northampton (CLC-1) and USS Little Rock (CLG-4). The weight of the antenna was 55,000 lbs with the entire radar system being 100,000 lbs
