History
The Mk 32 SVTT (Surface Vessel Torpedo Tubes) is an torpedo launching system developed for the US Navy. Since it's introduction in 1960 it has been the standard anti-submarine torpedo launching system aboard US Navy surface vessels. In addition, it is in use in many foreign navies. All versions have space for 3 torpedoes except for the Mod 9, which has only 2 tubes and is fixed in position. All but the Mod 15 (used on the Spruance class) can be controlled manually from local control in addition to remote control. All variants can be remote controlled and are designed to do so. After firing, there remains no connection between the launcher and the torpedo as the torpedoes are fire-and-forget weapons.
