Awesome...is BB-33 next on the list? :)
You asked for it! ;)

Here is a reworking of the previous RedHorse, Karle94 version of USS Arkansas (BB-33). I've changed the 5"/51 guns along with their casemates. Changed the cagemasts. Redid the deck vent scoops. Added deck hatches. And changed the underwater hull color, etc.

There seem to be some mismatches with the top view and side view with the forward casemate guns. I can also not understand anything of the hull shading (neither the underwater hull or the shading on the bow looks really realistic to me), something funny is going on with the gun and the bridge wing (the bridge wing goes over the gun but somehow part of the gun is drawn in front of it in the sideview), some portholes are murdered forward and quite a lot of the shading is nonstandard (both overhang, too many tones and definitely more tones then required on funnels and conning tower) and mismatching shading under the higher and the lower turrets.

In short, I think a bit more patience and taking a good look at this drawing and slowly improving it would make it from not bad to great!

Ace,

I've corrected most of your concerns, save the underwater shading which I believe is correct. The use of five tones on rounded surfaces is to approximate the gradient shading in nature.

Slainte,

David

what is the underwater hull shading based on? as in, what does the shading represent? because it right now looks to me as if you have an extremely boxy ship, this shape basicly https://worldmaritimenews.com/wp-conten ... Client.jpg

as for the 5 tine shading, I think it is unnecessary to use more then 3 shades for shapes like this, but that's up to you ;)

Ignoring useless blather from those who love to denigrate other people's work but never produce drawings of their own...

VERY nice work! Can't wait to see more versions of her!

I'm working on the 1915 version at the moment.

PS : beam error not sure :? , but size of 12" turrets & superstructures look too small (top-view), check this
Various decisives/majors errors still remains...

It's always hard to know just how caustic the tone might be when translated from one language to another.

Corrections are nice...
