The REUBEN JAMES (DD-245) in October of 1941, as lost. The ship is camouflaged in early Measure 2, with a graded system of Light Grey, Ocean Grey, and Dark Grey. The early paints were not as blue as the later versions.

REUBEN JAMES shows the results of the pre-war escort conversion program, with six 3"/50s replacing the former 4" mounts and two banks of torpedo tubes removed. A Y-gun depth charge projector (with reload racks) sits on the quarterdeck, with depth charge racks on the fantail. Five .50-caliber machine guns have been added to the ship, with the fifth gun sitting atop the old amidships searchlight tower - a common modification for the ocean escort CLEMSONs.

REUBEN JAMES would become famous as the first American ship sunk by the Axis during World War II, when the ship was hit by a torpedo from U-552 off Iceland. 100 of her crew were killed in action.

I'm very skeptical about your torpedo-tubes on the Reuben-James.
(It seems to me that on the Wickles/Clemson DD class's (1917-1922 built), there are older torpedo-tubes models => built around 1917-1922)
And I think that the torpedo-tubes onboard Wickles/Clemson class's are not the same as on those onboard US destroyers built by 1934-1945 !

Yes, I think you're right - currently digging for the designation of those tubes now. Surprisingly the Floating Drydock plans of this class show the modern Mark 14 tubes on this ship...

Fantastic work! Would you object if I modified these into the destroyers HMCS St. Croix and HMCS St. Francis as operated by the Royal Canadian Navy?

No, not at all - if you'd like a stripped version with no railing/rigging/deck clutter I'd be happy to provide that (as always), or even a layered PSD file. Just let me know.

Keep in mind that this is a modified version of the original CLEMSON class design, with shorter funnels and a different armament configuration.

Thanks all.

Just FYI, I am not planning on completing any more units of this class, at least not right now. My eventual plans would be WARD (DD-139) on December 7th, PEARY (DD-226) as lost in February of 1942, and JOHN D. FORD (DD-228) during the raid on Balikpapan, also February of 1942. The Asiatic Fleet / DesRon 29 units interest me the most. I am not particularly interested in drawing any pre-war units at this time.
