I say build it. That way we can blow any asteroids that might come our way. We even get some planatery defense should aliens appear. Shoot first, aske questions later.

How about building the Eclipse?

Well, I am a Star Wars fan, but to be honest, having a planet-destroying laser in orbit would make me a bit.... uneasy. It only takes one tired soldier to lay on the wrong switch and...

As for the Eclipse, I don't think they'll build one either. Having only a continent-destroying superlaser might be bad hurting the poor ozone layer when used.
