Happy new year all bucketeers :D
At December 20th 2010 I joined this marvellous site. For over a half year I've had enjoyed all the fantastic ship drawings here. Especially the modern war ships which were my main interest. The good thing about sb was I could take ships and compare them visually because of the sb standards. But when I needed a Albion Class LPD I've had run into troubles. It didn't excist in sb :!:
Problems are taskes to be solved. In this case I've had to draw it myself. That's the main reason for me to join in. Then I would draw all modern war ships which weren't drawn yet. So much for my intentions :? How many ships has I then drawn :?: Well, if you are curious look beneath.
As many of you mates had discovered, in the beginning it's easy to read the tutorial but hard to remember. I've had a hard time to get all the rules in place but learned them - with a little help (read: GREAT help) from my friends (the excellent mates here - thank you!) - I found that these rules are mostly great and are securing the superb standard of our drawings.
But I've a need to do magic with colours which is hard except if you are like Alvama with his excorbitant and amazing Steampunk vessels, so it became a magic play ground for me when the CoA's for war ships were introduced. But it was also a two edged sword. It became the main reason why I haven't drawn so many ships as I wanted. Today I've finished this years last drawing from me. It's my number 243th badge (230 for real ships and 13 for other purposes).
I'm very proud of this particular badge. It's the most complex untill now. I was asked to do it, and I felt the expectations were high. The original badge is very beautiful (in my opinion) so I've made an effort to get it look right. To do that I used 32 different colour nuances. I think I succeeded.
But now I will take a pause for the badge drawing (I will finish 1 RN and 3 USN which are WIP's). Two reasons: first I will draw some ships; second I'm afraid I'm setting the standards for badge drawing too high and scares some of you to trying :? My new years wish is
therefore that more of you will draw badges. I will continue to put them in CoA parts sheet and in templates.
Enough words; here is the badge for HMS Implacable followed by the few ships I made in a year. Again: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL :D

I can't beleive it's been just over a year!! And looking at what you've acheived Kim, I'm sure all Bucketeers are impressed. The COA's have been a great addition, but yes, more of your excellent drawings would be even more welcome :)

I hadn't realised it was a year since you joined. You've made some great drawings this year, qauality always shines over qauntity and you've certainly become the bade and CoA maestro of the site. Can't wait to see what awaits us this year.
