Katori class were training cruisers of IJN: slow, underarmed and practically unarmored. During WW2 they were used as administrative flagships.
I've already managed to sneak the IJN Katori into the main archive without posting it on the forum

And here is her sister Kashii as a ASW command flagship. Note the depth charge racks and throwers aft, no TTs, more AA guns and the Type 21 air search radar.

A graceful ship which suffered greatly from a lack of vision.
With a more well thought out armament scheme, or a better turn of speed, they might have been useful.

Beautiful work on a vessel that should have had a better life.

Thanks!
I'm gonna do the Kashima in 1945 configuration as well.
By the way, take a look at the boats on Kashi; it's a sneak peak into the coming IJN boats sheet ;)

Very nice work, I've always like the way the Katori looked. Perhaps not totally a cost-effective ship but they were usefully used during the war.

Thank you, Hood. The Japanese started to build a fourth ship - the Kashiwara - but they canceled it in 1941 to free up shipyards for more important projects.

Anyhow, here's the third sister: IJN Kashima as in 1945, when she was on anti-submarine patrol duty. She differs slightly from Kashii in AA and electronics.

Nice work! Will there be a final drawing of Kashima as a repatriation ship as well?

Thanks!
As for repatriation version, no, I don't want to depict her all disarmed and miserable.
