I see you've been introduced to Mike "Sparky" Sparks. He's a nut, and the worst part is that every once in a while a good idea comes up he latches onto it, and it dies.

Sparky is, to the best of my knowledge, a former military officer, but that doesn't mean he's sane.

I'm surprised you weren't aware of Sparky before, actually.

He was an active duty officer but to the best of my knowledge was in a non-combat role and was prematurely honorably discharged - and it's my understanding that it was barely "honorable," if you get what I mean. But it was enough to allow him to serve in the North Carolina Army Reserves as a parachute inspector (yes, really). It was during this time that he "formulated" most of his theories and most of his web content. I believe he was officially retired within the last 10 years.

He's a total nutter. Go drink heavily so that you might unsee what you have just seen.

I remember hearing a bit about the guy a LOOONG time ago but had to make sure it was the same guy and the same site.

He has a page where he suggests that the USN get rid of all its carriers and replace them with cruisers + seaplanes.

I don't know. I was in 113's before we converted to the Bradley. It wasn't a bad vehicle. However, once I had my Bradley, I would never ever go back to the 113. That extra firepower was sure nice.
