So, I found this pic online during an image search for something else, and it was just listed as "Chinese Cruiser". It looks kinda like one of the 052C destoryers, but the bridge looks wrong for that. Can anybody help in identifying this ship or class?

Ah, ok. Since I couldn't find any other references to it anyplace else, I had a feeling it wasn't something the chinese actually had, but wasn't sure. Thanks.

Well, yes, you're dealing with the 'Alice in Wonderland' of Chinese 'Defence'; which means disinformation, flagrant stealing of everything in sight, and a goverment that is essentially fascist. So God help us all when the USA sinks into the sunset :(

Its not the chinese offical missinformation, its the bloody internet fanboi's of 2nd or 3rd generation chinese immigrants, whose nerdy teenagers need to fullfill their normal feel of inferiority in social circles by "masturbating" in cyberspace with all sort of wild photoshop or CGI wanks... ;)
I've spend most of my active internet forum moderation career with these guys for past 6 years.
death to china!

I'm not so sure just because cruisers are really almost as obsolete as battleships are for pretty much the same reasons - size isn't everything. Their Lujang class ships are capable of blue water projection (the main mission of a cruiser) complete with phased arrays yet are not that much bigger at the waterline than an OHP. And while it's true that frigates and destroyers are growing in size, they're still not quite up to a Ticonderoga (which was originally a "destroyer" anyway). In fact the European-style "frigates" show that you can do a lot of cruiser-style missions on a rather small hull, and it's only the U.S. and its Asian allies that demand the really big, "cruiser"-style destroyers (once again for long-range power projection). The Chinese, on the other hand, seem to prefer that old adage of Asians valuing efficiency over theatrics.

don't think of it as a traditional warship type, think of it as them developing a large multirole surface combatant. Cruiser just sounds better.
