After finishing a RN destroyer, I felt why not to do samething for USN, and drawn my first american ship as well.

I took brief look at people's worklists and found this in none, thus I was free to proceed to my personal favorite among all US warships, the Sims class destroyers. I picked the seccond ship of the Class, USS Hughes becouse of her cute camoflage pattern and good source linedrawings.

Here she is shown as build (with the guns atop after deckhousing having no turrets and three quadruple TT sets and exsesive top-weigth and stability proplems)

and here during 1942 with one set of TTs and one gun taken out to more stable ordanance.

The camo-pattern was bit tricky... I could only find a mediocore sidewiev from portside, so i cannot say for 100% certainity that the patterns were symmetric ones. Also the colors are bit obtional, I didn't find any good color pallete or color photgraph aside from few hand painted models, that appeared to be rather close to what I've used.

Great work!! I fully agree on your point. The camo looks spot-on!

Great looking, especially the camo. IIRC the aft guns were in half-turrets, which means the roof was canvas covered as seen from this picture

yes I tried to present that, thougth I think only the X gun was a halfmount, and the Y gun was a turret just like in the front.

I believe you are right, and only X gun mounting is a half-turret.

*Gasp* Golly has gone Western!

Nice camo scheme, as usual excellent standards of drawing. Nice details without being too cluttered and showy.
