A person over at Subsim told me that the removal of the wing mounts on the Musashi is disputed, is that so?

If I remember correctly, the Musashi's wing turrets were removed, but she didn't get as extensive an AA suit as Yamato.

I have been taugt that Wikipedia should never be trusted. But pics taken by American planes flying directly above the Musashi shows that she has no wing turrets so I am inclined to believe your judgement.

this site also confirms the removal of 6.1-inch wing turrets, Musashi was to be fitted like Yamato but she did not recieve in time the extra 5-inch mounts because of gun shortages; her sinking precluded her any possibility of beign fitted with them at a later date.

Yamato and Musashi did not receive their major AA reconstruction until early 1944, meaning that they still had the wing mounts in 1943. The confusing part is the orientation of AA, especially with Yamato in 1945 when she was repeatedly modified. What I am drawing is from the best information I can find in the University library and Internet, i have also been staring endlessly at poor quality photos. If you find any first rate sources that go against anything I draw, please present it.

Musashi as she looked in June-July 1943 with Type 22 radars added along with Type 21 radar and an additional 4 triple 25mm mounts midships. Lower level portholes were sealed to improve watertight integrity.

my reference was flawed, so it really needs an redo, or at least a fix, I think. and even if not, I believe the as build and as modified (before the WW2 rebuild) should be represented as well, but I just lack time and interest in that time era to do so myself. you or BB1987 are the best bet to see this ship being correctly and beautiful represented in the bucket
