Here's another Southwest livery...this is the new paint job all future Southwest aircraft will be painted in.

I think these may have been the first Southwest painted aircraft on shipbucket too.

The cool thing about Southwest is, THERE ARE SO MANY LIVERIES TO CHOOSE FROM!!!

Very nice.

I'm planning to do all the 737 variants to a common standard (unlike now, when all - already done - models are shown on completely stand-alone drawings by different Authors with no commonality between them).
But first I want to finish this:

(the MD-80/-90/B717 that is, the "original" DC-9's - and DC-8 - You know, of course)

The Messerschmitt Me.309 was a German fighter of the world war 2 that never went beyond the prototype stage. It was designed in the earliest years of the war intended to be a replacement of the Bf-109. Messerschmitt also tried to replace the Bf-109 with another not so radically different design, the Messerschmitt Me.209.

However the reich air ministry thought that there was no need to replace the Bf-109 and the development of it was slow. In fact the first prototype wasn't complete until late 1941.

Although having some advanced features like a tricycle landing gear or a pressurized bubble style cockpit (the shape of which reminds to the P-51 or the late versions of the Spitfire), it suffered from some flaws which altered its performance and made it inferior to the Focke-Wulf Fw.190. That's why only four prototypes were built.

Many thanks to Eswube for his help reviewing this project.

Germany, Messerschmitt Me.309

Hi Naixoterk, I like the Me 309's so far, (I didn't know about the Jumo 213 engined V1!) but I'd like to bring up a couple of points if I may for the Real Life 309's:

1. The camo scheme for the Me 309 V4 "GE+CU" is completely wrong as you can see in the photographs I have put in the spoiler; should be RLM 74/75/76. "RH+LH" seems alright.
2. Factory coding for both planes should be enlarged and shifted back slightly, along with the Balkenkreuz.
3. I think it is possible to add landing gear to the drawings, sources are readily available.
4. Any thought to adding the variety of tails for V1? http://www.aer.ita.br/~bmattos/mundo/ww2/me309.htm

P.S: I apologize if I seem to come off as a bit harsh and it's probably not my place since I haven't drawn nearly as much as you have , and quality of work you have produced time and again in FD scale. But I believe that these drawings have a little bit more work left in them.

You don't have to apologize, as long as it's a constructive criticism, in order to improve the drawing, there's not any problem and i accept it.

I admit that i kinda rushed the paintjobs because i wanted to release them and move on to my next drawing that i find it to be more attractive. That explains a lot, doesn't it?.

It is in RLM 74/76, not in 75 because instead of basing it in the black and white photo i based it in the drawing that appears at the top of the page you posted with the variety of tails.
IMO there's hardly any trace of RLM 75 there but, however, as most of the planes painted in RLM 74 also included that one, i'm going to admit that i rushed it and i'm going to repaint it.
Maybe the tone of RLM 74 confused you because i used a different sub-variant of it, the graublau one.

It will be done. Rushing is bad. Isn't it? :)

Indeed. But that's just a matter of personal taste. I, for one, don't like the drawings showing the landing gear down, unless it's fixed (obviously), as i prefer to draw the airplanes in flying mode.
If you want to modify it in order to include a deployed landing gear you have all my permission and support.

Regarding the different tails... i think that it would be paying too much attention to sub-details, however, as i said before, go ahead and draw them if you want.

I hope you understand that as soon as i have re-repainted the prototypes i'd like to move on to another drawing, that's why i don't want to spare more time in sub-variants and so on.

Cheers.

Ok, i have completely repainted the first one (GE-CU) and made some minor adjustments to the second one. Check them out again.

On my part, i think that my work on this airplane is over.
