Rowdy, the Queen is a Queen! One question though: are you sure about the Red Duster? I believe she most of her career flew the Blue Ensign (Her Captains being RNRs!)

You may be right Bezobrazov, my reference showed the Red Duster but I can't say conclusively either way...

My take is that the largest of the liners always were prized commands, often offered to a Commodore of the shipping company or a senior captain, who most often had a background in the RN. (E. J. Smith, for instance was a Commander, RN, before retiring and beginning his long association with White Star Line.)

The big liners are wonderful!

Most big companies commodores were usually R.N.R and so, the most prestigious liner of a company usually flew the Blue Duster.
