And here is the next installment, courtesy of Kim's usual excellent camo, plus some changes we worked on together. First the drawing then some explanation:



The issue we had was with the Blessed Friedman, whose British Cruisers provides a mine of excellent drawings and photo's. But I'd included both the Type 273 (sited in front of the bridge), plus the Type 272 (on the mast) as one of his captions indicated that this was the fitting in 1943, after the smaller set had been fitted, but the older one disabled; then he mentions that it was the Type 273 that was still in operation at both the Barents Sea and North Cape battles; but then, he shows a photo of the Jamaica that shows the absence of the Type 273 in 1943. So, Kim might do another Colony class with the Type 273, to show the diference. Meanwhile, we have what we think is the best approximation of how she appeared at the time of her greatest glory (notwithstanding some other changes claimed by Freidman but again not born out by photographs). I don't want to dis Freidman, but maybe even he can contradict himself!!

Kim wants to carry on with some more variants on the Jamaica; meanwhile I'm still plugging away on the Bermuda, as she appeared at the end of her service

Researching the details can be a right pain sometimes, but this is a good co-operative job to get things right.

As a slight coincidence, I'm reading Christopher Hitchens' memoir Hitch 22. His father was captain of Jamaica and fought at North Cape.
