An update post on the Alexander Class heavy cruiser a couple of pages back, with the progressive updates applied to the class throughout their service lives and some of the camouflage and paint schemes they wore:

Second ship of the class HMRS Stokes painted in the colours of the Singapore Station not long after entering service.

Lead ship of the class HMRS Alexander after her first major refit in 1936.

HMRS Mason just prior to the outbreak of World War 2. HMRS Mason received the biggest changes of the class with a fixed catapult and hangar for two aircraft fitted amidships, with her quarterdeck cut down and 4" guns (the original singles exchanged for twins) lowered one deck to save weight.

HMRS Quagi as she appeared operating alongside the Royal Navy against the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir.

[ img ]
HMRS Stokes as she appeared operating in the Mediterranean Squadron bearing standard '1941' camouflage.

[ img ]
HMRS Alexander as she appeared during the Battle of Savo Island.

[ img ]
HMRS Mason as seen during service patrolling for raiders and escorting convoys in the Indian Ocean.

[ img ]
HMRS Stokes in 1945 operating with the Pacific Squadron and wearing standard '1945' camouflage.

They look great Rowdy.

Only question I would have is if the X 8" on Stokes is voluntarily removed or by damage?

As much as I dislike the closely spaced funnels I think they still look remarkably pretty, especially the admiralty disruptive scheme for the indian ocean ops.

Very nice work rowdy, great looking class of cruisers.
(p.s. at Savo the scale bar got "camouflaged" too)

My thinking was that it would be removed voluntarily (similar to HMAS Australia in 1945). Since these are treaty cruisers (kind of) I figure they'd be limited in how much extra weight could be added easily/safely/effectively so to add significant AA armament would cause problems, and the reduced 8" armament would be less of an issue at this stage of the war (the Alexander class were gradually relegated to secondary roles when there were enough newer Ypres class heavy cruisers arriving in the fleet). Having said that, removal due to damage is an interesting thought...
