Well he has got 1943 on the date so should be ok as long as that’s the first ship for Squid (In RN service 1943–1977).

Limbo is totally post war (In service 1955–1980s) and needs much longer range sonar (sorry for mentioning it as a joke)

Um... JSB, the 100 mm mounts I am using are Japanese open mount ones, not German ones because I preferred the Japanese ones over the German ones

Ok sorry but cant find a weight for them (Taiho 1944 type?) :(, note the gun entered service after PH and will not be much lighter so I don’t think it doesn’t change my points much.

The redesign makes more sense.

One thing that might be worth considering is replacing the expensive turbines with VTE's, accepting a lower speed of 22-23 knots. If I understand the rationale behind these ships they don't need high speed but long-range is a necessity and you want to keep costs down...
What are VTE? I am not well versed in these acronyms

VTE = vertical triple-expansion
Steam engines with cylinders [ img ](from wikipedia) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_steam_engine

less good (lower power to weight/space) than turbines but still used in (slower) merchant ships in 39 so,
A) you can use civilian crew without training them on new types of engine room
B) turbines/gearing are harder to make (and you are limited in how fast/many you can make so in war time would use them on your faster DDs+)

Will limit your speed but probably worth it on a convoy escort.

Zhalo class escort destroyer edited
This was the vessels that eased the burden of convoy escort from the destroyers. These escort destroyers, according to what the Rossiyan Navy refers to them or as everyone else calls, destroyer escorts were quick to be built from scratch. These ships are armed with two dual 100 mm 5 round clip cannons, 5 dual 40 mm anti-air cannons and six dual 20 mm anti-air cannons, one dual ASW torpedo tubes, two Squid ASW Mortars and two depth charge launcher. This class of escort destroyers have a top speed of 24 knots thanks to it two VTEs. These ships need a crew of 198 to operate at full efficiency. There were to be 200 of ships planned to be launched but only 95 were completed before the war's end and of the 95, 6 were lost in action, 2 in the Black Sea, 1 in the North Sea, 1 in the Atlantic and two in the Pacific both at the Battle of Samar, (RFS Hornisse and RFS Mol'). These ships have no armour as their main task is hunt for submarines and secondary role is to provide anti-air protection for the convoys they protect. The Allies gave these ships the nickname Barky for the noise they make whenever they fire their weapons. The Axis primarily the Germans and the Japanese call these the Howler and Sea Hornet respectively for their loud bangs whenever their guns go live.

Now for the Rossiyan Cold War Navy
Rossiyan Navy; Post World War 2

After the Second World War, the Rossiyan Navy along with the United States Navy emerged as the most powerful navies in the world. However, both navies knew that they couldn't maintain all the ships that they have constructed during the war; therefore it up to Fleet Admiral Gerhard Galland, Chief of Rossiyan Navy Actions and Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Chief of Navy Operations to downsize the two powerful navies. The Rossiyan Navy took a longer period to downsize their tonnage as they took the time to evaluate, study and decide what fate each ship will get. This evident as by 1950, the start of the Korean War, the Rossiyan Navy was still very large naval force with most of its ships still afloat. It was only in 1960 did the Rossiyan Navy really shrank in size. Rossiyan Navy for a brief period during 1950 to 1955 operated all the warships it had gained as war booty. As missiles became a weapons of the navies around the world, Rossiya too joined in but it held on to it's heavy guns and that is how the Rossiyan Navy operates now being the only navy to still operate battleships, battlecruisers, heavy cruisers while operating supercarriers, guided missiles cruisers, destroyers and ballistic missile submarines.

Re Zhalo class escort destroyer, its getting better but i would keep playing with it,
my priorities in no particular order would be getting good arcs for weapons, 2 twin main guns mounts, maybe swap the TTs for more smaller ones (without the heavy tubes), etc etc.

the more time you spend (and read etc) the better it will get and its better to have a few good ships rather than lots of easy kitbashes. (not that I really exemplify that ;) )
