Nice drawing, but; How much of this is real and how much is speculation?

Really, the 1943 tender and escort carrier belong in Personal Designs rather than here. In this age of image searching its all too easy for these to be misrepresented and reused as proof of a "real" design elsewhere but those less well informed about the origins of these drawings.

Actually Hood, I would think the 1943+ drawings are more likely 'never were' drawings as they are drawings of proposals made for Teste if the ship had been raised and refitted for either of those uses. I have read of the proposals in several different publications. Which brings us to the point which is does David split the thread and have two threads for the real and never were drawings or keep the whole series in one thread. To my mind it is easier for both drawer and reader to follow through just one thread. Once the drawings are ready for uploading to the main archive they are then split into Real Life and Never Were.

The other point you raise is the image search and the uses made by of the drawings by unscrupulous people. Because of the nature of the files it is so easy to 'save to HDD', and alter both the filename and drawing - we really have no control over that except if the drawings can be traced back to SB origin and invoke our Fair use policy. With misrepresentation the best way to keep a little bit of reality is to ensure both the file name and drawing name reflect whether the drawing is real or not.

I myself have been fooled by Novice's very good personal design of an M class destroyer because it was not marked in the drawing or filename that it was a PD. Someone has pinched my Argus kitbash for a game and quite frankly they have made a better job of their kitbash of my Argus than I did. Their one does look 'real' compared to mine.

I meant no offence by continuing the possible legacy of the commandant Teste here, it merely seemed to be the logical space to place it. The two hypothetical drawings will be removed to Never Have Beens.

Hello everyone!

I think the CVE conversions of Commandant Teste are definitely uploadable Never Weres, because there WERE plans to rebuild her, even if no detailed sketches were ever made. Never Weres alway involve some degree of speculation (and to me, that is the fun part ). If I remember correctly, some splendid 1930s carrier versions of HMS Hood's unbuilt sisters were even uploaded into the Never Were Folder, and these were a lot more speculative than the Commandant Teste as a CVL.

Indeed, all never-were's carry a degree of speculation, some are almost entirely speculation based on sketchy known facts.
I'm fine with that as long as its made clear in the post that its speculative.
The drawing is as good a guess as any as to how she may have looked as a fully-fledged flattop.
