The flexibility of these ships is that the take weaponry on containerized modules, easy to replace. And do not forget the enormous beam of 20m!

Iver Huitfeldt class Frigate: Does this design is flexible enough for support 64cell Mk41, 8 SSM, one 127/64 LW and my CIWS? (Latter will installed with the missile unit front and gun unit rear).

I suppose, but you'll need a large hull plug amidship.

It might be possible, but you'd need to redesign the entire superstructure to do it.

Can't see why not.

Again useful information, perhaps go for an Absalon Command/Transport Ship.

Now returning back to the cruiser, what about a design similar with Vittorio Venneto in capacity, since I have length available? In a 186.9 m X 18.9m X 6.1 m hull (18.9m beam as the Duca degli Abruzzi class, Elli Class had 17.5m). Vitorrio Veneto was 179.6 m X 19.4 m X 6.0 m, so I have a hull 10m longer but 0.5m narrower. Can I have same capacity with Vitorrio Veneto?

Regarding a GT powered Iver Huitfeldt, I have the GA for Absalon and it wouldn't be impossible to design for larger uptakes (it's a bit tight around the boat bays though). The problem would probably be the machinery spaces themselves - I can't lay my hands on the dimensions for a Spey but I don't think even they'd fit, let alone anything larger.

Lots more changes to the fiddly bits needed to make it work, of course.

RP1, could you share the GA of the absalon? if you cannot, I will look up the reference I used for the belowdecks of the spey for you.
if the spey doesn't fit, hell, that absalon machinery room is compact!

Hi,

The drawings were put on-line but now seem to have been taken down, which makes me wary of disseminating them further (it is possible they were not supposed to have been put up in the first place), and I'd like to stay friendly with the Vikings ;-)

Paying more attention to the drawings they give the frame spacings, so I can say that the main machinery rooms are 12m long (pretty typical for a frigate), so a Spey or LM2500 would fit I think. Some consideration would need to be given to the location of the gearboxes. Machinery space height is something like 5.75-6m (i.e. two decks).

Assuming the ducting is 2.5m on a side, it could - just - be routed past the flexible deck. If the aspect ratio could be jiggled around to make the ducts longer (x) and thinner (y) it would be fine.

This Absalon Command/Transport Ship would have same propulsion with Danish Absalons and similar weaponry (expect the Millennium Gun). Perhaps StanFlex modules for Exocet missiles would developed. Could the ship accommodate Oto Breda 127/64LW instead or the Mk45?

Besides, RHN (AU) does not use Spey or LM2500.

What about the cruiser as wrote above?

Hi,

STANFLEX modules for Exocet should be relatively trivial. AIUI the Harpoon modules just have the launcher control panel in the module and the Mk 141s on the deck plate. It's a standard interface panel between the module and the ships command system so an Exocet version would have Exocet control units in the module instead. The two issues would be that, (1) offhand, I think Exocet launches at a shallower angle so the missiles would have to be set on a pedestal to clear the bulwarks either side of the launcher. And much more significantly (2) I don't know if the Exocet control boxes are compatible with the command system. In principle a new interface module could be written for the existing system, if MBDA were co-operative (i.e. don't try to sell you another product ;-) )

Swapping between the 127mm guns shouldn't be a major problem. From an overall ship impact perspective, they are very similar. The Italian weapon is slightly heavier, IIRC, due to it's loader.

The interface for the Exocet is not a problem for HLK, the missile is in service with RHN for more than 40 years.

South Africa purchased Avro Shackleton. Could HLK order also this aircraft and then replace it with P-3 Orion? Instead of the Privateer.
