I have a perhaps somewhat silly ... (or irrelevent) ... (or unworkable even) ... question...
Does anybody know of a link, or a place, or a person here, where or who knows which Soviet/Russian electronics systems (radar, directors, etc) are the equivelent of NATO/USN/RN systems? Basically for the 90's - Now.
I ask because as part of my fictional AU nation, I sometimes use Russian ships to represent what I may have if I like the way they look. I primarily use RN or USN ships, but sometimes do use the odd Russian type. However, in order to give a more cohesive/coherent look, I'd like to swap out the Russian weapons systems and their attendent electronics for their USN/RN equivelent (search radar for search radar, SAM director for SAM director... that sort of thing.) And while I am pretty good at tactics and organization (having been studying naval history for about 45 years now) I really do kinda suck at working on the little things like what electronic bit does what. I know, pretty embarrasing for an amateur naval historian. I'll do penance later.
In the meantime, is there such as thing as a
"Russian radar "X" is used for the same/similar function as USN radar "Y" chart? Or am I just wishing for what ain't?
