Looks good (and something I have as a WIP somewhere), but detailing changes aside angling the door window back at the front to negate double-blacks makes the window shape inaccurate. The window is more or less rectangular, which is why I chose to outline the door in dark shade rather than black and preserve the window shape. If you are dead set on keeping the door outline in black, I would recommend reducing the window's angle, such as below:

Suggestion 1 ensures zero double blacks, but Suggestion 2 would be my "happy compromise", with only a single pixel of black on black but preserving the shape of the window.

How about now? it does look better.

Looks like a good compromise to me.

The master list included in this thread's first post has been updated, with new header images and an easier-to-read layout. Image previews have been removed for easy reference, with only links to archive pages or forum posts being included. Let me know if this is better/worse etc. or if there are additional changes that might make this thread easier to browse.

USA, Cessna 150 (WIP)

Current status of C150 blanks. 1959-1963 and 1967-1970 are complete, 1971-1977 are in progress.

USA, Cessna 172 (WIP)

Current status of C172 blanks. 1964 (172E) to present (172S/SP) are complete with reasonable accuracy, though I might touch up the older drawings from late 2021 just to make sure I didn't miss anything. The 1956-1962 "fastback" and first model swept tail panovision aircraft (172D/P172D) are yet to come, as are the high-performance R172K Hawk XP and 172Q Cutlass and the Turbo Skyhawk JT-A. I also plan to research and add serial number ranges as I did on the 210s and 150s.

Cessna's Big Flop, the 162 Skycatcher
[ img ]
[ img ]

One of Cessna's (Textron's) worst decisions in recent years, the 162 Skycatcher was an attempt to design a modern training aircraft to replace the 150 and 152 (which had been out of production for 25+ years). Cessna decided to design and certify the 162 as a Light Sport Aircraft which notionally provided a lower purchase cost at the expense of certain types of operation and performance. Following intensive redesigns after both the first and second prototypes crashed, the 162 was first delivered in December 2009. Initially receiving orders for over 700 162s, a slow (30/year) production rate combined with increases in price due to moving manufacturing to China (among other factors) meant that orders dropped so low that Cessna decided to cancel the 162 program altogether in February 2014 after 192 aircraft had been sold. An additional 80 aircraft that hadn't yet been sold at the time of cancellation were kept by Cessna as parts hulks until 2018 when they were scrapped. As of August 2022, 175 of the original 192 aircraft were still on the FAA registry, with the largest operator (Rainier Flight Service) operating 15 of the type.
