And here is another ship from Spain. Built as yard number 1 at the Sestao, Spanish Naval yard, the ship was the third to be named Alfonso XIII for the Compania Trasatlantica Espanola, with a service between Spain, to New York and onward to Cuba.
The Alfonso XIII
With the creation of Republican Spain several ships were renamed, in order to remove any royal names, the Alfonso XIII being renamed Habana. In 1939 the ship suffered a fire which caused her to be rebuilt as a cargo ship, all passenger accommodations being removed. The work was completed in 1943.
In 1947 the ship had passenger accommodation being added and was finally sent for breaking up in 1962.
