The Essex had an atlantic bow, meaning the overhang had been faired into the hull.
This setup isn't, and it'll have the same effect as a belly flop when it hits a heavy sea.

I was a little unsure of it myself. But I'm trying to find a compromise on the solution!

I'm going to point out two things:
  1. Post WW2 all carriers that were refit, or new builds received a hurricane bow.
  2. That's the old Mk-29, you should use the new one found here.

for aircraft: what time era is this for? looking at the radars and weapons, I suppose it is 80s 90s something?
and what would be the role of this ship? fleet defence (as the russians have it) or more like the US idea?

fleet defense, and for use in international missions with other countries. (taskforce).
