finally an update on this ship! I have done the underwaterhull. next part is the rigging, after that only some detailing / shading fixes to be done!

Looks good. The rudder looks weird though.

the top part needs recouloring... but that is the only part that should be changed (I followed the original plans where possible)

The rudder is perfectly ok, except as ace mentioned to do away with the copper sheathing on its tiller part. You'd be amazed to realize what, proportionally small rudders ships of this age really had! A large part of the actual maneuvering of the ship was executed by the running rigging and the sails!

I know that* and I wasn't referring to its size. I should have explained myself better.
Anyway, the reason why it looks weird to me is because Ace hasn't shown the rudder stock which on ships like this is a very prominent feature.

*I have sailed traditional Fore-n-Aft and Square rigged ships both as a hobby and professionally for the last 13 years.

the rudder stock? a bit of an translation error here... I guess that is the horizontal 'stick' at the top of the rudder, which is used to move the rudder? I can clear that easily: that one is inside the hull. the rudder goes through the stern and inside it is linked to the steering wheel.

update.... the bowsprit is the level of detail the rigging will get ;) this gonna be a lot of work...... but well worth it
