Just some random text. probably making no sens at all.... (my excuse must be that it's late and I'm drunk.... and I don't drink!)
up to 1930 Haram politics have been working around being by them self, with some trade agreement to various country's. And Haram Navy and Army up to the 30's reflected that. where most ships in the Navy was build upon coastal protection. all Dreadnought except 1 was slow lumbering brick with several big guns. Destroyers was build to be slightly faster to protect these slow dreadnoughts and monitors, against faster ships. small and very fast torpedo and guns boats was an big deal in the Navy. the flotilla of fast attack boats tend to be large, and worked around the tactic, wolf pack. But during the 30's the Admiralty saw an change in tactics by many other great Naval powers, and Haram didn't like to be on the side line. So during 30's the Navy went trough a change:
- new Naval tactic, where the main goal is to meat the enemy at sea, rater than trying to trap them close to the coast.
- all old dreadnoughts went trough massive reconstruction, some lost guns for better armor, other got an bigger bulge for improving it's stability at sea.
There was ordered building of:
- Several smaller combatant, submarines, and logistic ships.
- 8 different class of Destroyers, all from small fast Escort destroyer to the larger Heavy destroyer.
- 3 classes of large Cruiser.
- 1 experimental Battleship, with two twin turret, armed with 18" guns, later on would be rearmed with 16" guns.
- Over an period of 15 year there was to be build 2 class of rater Large battleships armed with no less than 15" guns, and 3 Aircraft carriers.
This work would be done by the Navy's own shipyards, supported by many of Haram's small company's . all 8 of them. But 3 of the largest shipbuilding company's in Haram would also build ship for the Navy.
The Army received a lot of new equipment, they even received there first tanks. The military have had tanks before, a couple of British tanks for testing. But the military decided that towed howitzers connected with highly mobile units was more than enough. but in the 30's the first order for tanks was that the army of Haram was to receive 150 tanks, some later was adjusted to 600. by 1937 the army had 1500 tanks available.
The Admiralty idea behind the Navy and the Army was to have an military so strong that any enemy would think twice if they was trying to attack. but also so they had big enough military to do an two front war. For that the Army had to be large. in 1935 the army consisted of highly trained and professional army of 800.000 men with an 4 million strong reserve unit. The army had an reserve unit of 500.000 men trained in Guerrilla warfare. The units was trained to:
- the Army was trained in to using any weapons available, every man was trained in all thinkable scenarios. as they say, an army man can handle a 10" Naval gun, or drive a aircraft, he even must be able to take command of any unit.
- The reserve was practically a gun-food unit. they task was to go in the front.
- the guerrilla unit, all you had to do was to give them a job to do, rest would they handle by them self. There task was to disturb the enemy and take out high ranking officers. In the Army they are saying the guerrilla units was a early version of an special force.
