As for research, I got the USS America book from my library and studied it, as well as bought Norman Polmar's Ships and Aircraft of the U.S. Fleet. I assumed that Crazyhorse had done his work correctly, and that's where I was wrong. I hold myself to a pretty high standard, and I'd never do anything that stupid knowingly. I'll take it down and redraw the [redacted] thing all over again. There's no need to make jokes about it, I didn't do this on purpose. And BTW, I have that blueprint.

We're not making jokes about your work (which seems well-researched and thorough) but rather about the original artist who seemed to have the relatively-common problem of drawing first and asking questions later.

I remember when those ships were posted (years ago) and ignoring them because they strayed so far from the standards in place, and because I remember that guy being very difficult to work with.

At any rate, eager to see Gator_Country's rework.

If a drawing is incorrect, it needs to be removed from the archive. There's a standard of quality that needs to be adhered to. Even if we lose a "decent" drawing, it's better to not let it propagate.

It's hard for a drawing to be decent if it wasn't accurate to begin with, though.

I'm sorry to read that this was inaccurate; and I guess most of us don't have the time (or inclination) to check every drawing; the good news is that gator is going to redraw his version in the cause of accuracy

Alright, sorry for getting excited. I do agree that ALL of Crazyhorse's drawings should be removed ASAP so that other people aren't led astray like I was.

A drawing can be "decent" style-wise and look nice, but you're right... if it's not to scale, then what's the point?

may I ask if it would be possible to, if you are going to redraw the entire ship, work on the entire class? or at least representing the ships over the years..... as I do not know how much difference there was between the ships of the class.

Kitty Hawk and Connie were pretty much identical, and America and Big John were each a bit unique. Same waterline length, other than that they're pretty different. And I eventually intend to do America in the mid-80s, Kitty Hawk as retired, and Constellation as she was in 'Nam. Sound good? Be advised, though, that this won't be anytime soon, I'm still workin full time on Tarawa and Anchorage and a few others
