Damn you LEUT_east, you've stolen my thunder  Meaning, I was also playing with this concept as an alternative to the Adams class, using the Coontz as the template. My take retains the original sam missile, with the hangar on top of the handling/magazine room (as you've done), and because I like the look, the two 5-in in A & B positions, with the Ikara also in the midship position. Looking at the Adams and what the RAN hoped to get with a Wessex on board, it looked too ambitious on that sized hull; but here you can accomodate all the systems. With this 'Brisbane' you have a ship more comparable with the RN County class.Of course, in real life too expensive and who would have built them? But in AU land a very attractive proposition; well done mate :)

BTW, something wrong with my image host aweay from home, but I'll send the Supply material tonight.

Thanks for the feedback gents but I am far from happy with this design and in fact almost trashed it before I eventually got around to completing and posting it. Not one of my better designs I'm afraid.

Looks like a very nice DDG to me! and drawn in great detail. A very capable destroyer ,optional could fit a Phalax instead of aft 5 inch.

Thanks mate, I am a lot happier with the design now I have done the research and modifications. I wanted to use a Phalanx (aft) but the idea for this was to be a retro design ship.

Well ofcourse it can be done in a update version, u could even go with other CIWS's. An updated Brisbane would be very intresting. I always love RAN's ships , good capable modern ships in a weird green/grey camo :P

very nice, where is the 40mm located? 20mm Oerlikons would be another option.
Would the ships have been built in Australia? Or bought in.

Well the Perth Class was build in the US , so these probly would have been build there to. I also couldn't find the 40 mm's , i think 20 mm would be better instead as u said. She would serve very well as a Nato wide GW destroyer.

I should have mentioned in the specs that the 40mms are a "fitted for but not with" item on these vessels (in line with RAN common practises and lack of funding for capital projects).
