If these are the boats built in Burma, they are mentioned quite a few times in The Unforgettable Army (by Michael Hickey), an account of Slim's XIVth Army in Burma during the war. Excellent reading.

Brilliant Stuff SHIPDUDE; and yes, being too busy, I stared at the drawing for a while until the penny dropped, then straight to Jane's. And again, yes, General Slim, up there with the elite of military commanders (on all sides) in WWII.
