These little guys sacrificed a lot to get that firepower... speed, protection, uhm... well, yeah, not a whole lot more than that they could sacrifice. :P Several ships in real history did sacrifice this, and our AU's over in the N-verse featured several similar ship classes- a few of them hardly as prosaic as this one! :shock:

I've wanted to do an AU that has a navy composed of ships like that... a small fleet of one-off gunboats that concentrate on coastal defense.

Very nice drawing, heuhen. Too bad there's no underwater hull but it's to be expected with that much of references.
By the way, you should have used a different template, the S1, for the above waterline view only. And you're missing a comma after "Norway" ;)

Not really, so long as you provide a context for the design.
