I'd imagine because in the naval fraternity people would know who the ships referred to, sod the rest of the world.

@Hood
Great work!

@Rhade
Actually, around the World folks with interests in such matters were rather surprised that our navy bothered to apply all these long formal names to FFG-7's and Czernicki. :lol:

Cool ship! I can't help but think that the main turrets look slightly French...

Nice, I wonder why brits never name ships with full names like: HMS Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson or just Horatio Nelson.
No that is not his full title.

This is his full title.

The Most Noble Lord Horatio Nelson, Viscount and Baron Nelson, of the Nile and of Burnham Thorpe in the County of Norfolk, Baron Nelson of the Nile and of Hilborough in the said County, Knight of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Vice Admiral of the White Squadron of the Fleet, Commander in Chief of his Majesty's Ships and Vessels in the Mediterranean, Duke of Bronté in the Kingdom of Sicily, Knight Grand Cross of the Sicilian Order of St Ferdinand and of Merit, Member of the Ottoman Order of the Crescent, Knight Grand Commander of the Order of St Joachim.

I think it's a bit long winded for a ships name.

Or the Russians, Admirał Fłota Sowietskogo Sojuza Kuzniecow :D

I still think that they should name it at least HMS Horatio Nelson ... in decade or two they will rename it HMS N :lol:

A new drawing for Wesworld, the HMS Revolution, completed in 1946.

This is based on the historical cruiser-destroyer concept and has four 5.5in automatic mounts, two twin 6pdt 57mm AA and one twin 40mm AA and Double Squid and eight fixed torpedo tubes.

I like the style Hood. Not sure on that A-B turret placement as B is almost useless except for broadside firing. The idea of the Cruiser/Destroyer started with the Darings when the RN would not class them either as destroyers or cruisers but just as 'Darings'.

Did you consider the raised 'B' mounting?

Edit: Novice, I did wonder about putting single 40mm on either side of the bridge as replacements for the pair I deleted from front of bridge, then considered that the 57mm could probably do everything the 40mm did.

An excellent drawing Hood, and the idea proposed by Krakatoa has its merits (although losing the twin 40 mm guns in front of the bridge)
