Promotional prints and postcards of the period used white from main deck upwards.

It's very hard to tell there’s a colour difference on black & white pictures, if you don’t know what to look for. It’s even difficult to see on some colour photographs. But there’s visible difference on pictures dating back to 1948.

I'm not certain how they made the separation between the light green and white towards the rear. I could only find close up colour photographs from after the 1965 refit - when the large lido was installed, and it’s impossible to tell from the B&W pictures I have.

Its a very soft green, clashes with the funnel but its an appealing colour on a lovely drawing!

Simply amazing, always been a fan of Cunard ships, that just leaves the Mauritania (1938) and the Saxonia "class" for a fairly complete 1950s Cunard fleet.

Yes, one needs to get used to it, but that's the colour she had and so did the 2nd MAURETANIA (now THAT would be a great one to see) and I believe the IVERNIA and FRANCONIA also carried this green scheme at some point.

Here is a great album of on-board colour pictures from March 1949, it would appear that she was green all over!:
