Thank you for kind words, coming from a SB veteran like you they mean a lot.

I don't do both of them because i don't have enough free time, however once i've finished with 2007 i'll start with the 2000.

Actually i could use a somewhat detailed blueprint of a 2007, so far all i could find was too undetailed, specially regarding hull lines, nails, plaques (or whatever they are called) and so on.

Edit: Actually, i found a detailed pic, it's not a blueprint though, but it serves for the purpose...

Is it true that it was expected to length 10 meters? that's a bit big for a fighter isn't it?

What's that "V" shaped thing extending from the lower edge of exhaust?
And personally I'd draw a line from the wing to exhausts (below vertical fin) black, not grey.

This new thread is filling up with some excellent stuff.

On the JH-7; the light grey lines match the similar fuselage contours further forward around the cockpit in light grey. Another choice would be to make the wing root and where the intakes join the fuselage a darker grey rather than black. Really its an aesthetic choice to go for black or grey and what lines to draw in which. I don't think we'll ever be able to 100% rule on which is best, it depends on the artist's style and the colour scheme of the aircraft.

While there are no "official" rules for FD drawings, my understanding is that basically SB-rules apply more-or-less, and they say:

Black is used for all outer lines and sharp, angled breaks in the structure. Dark grey is used for all breaks, bends, and smooth angled breaks.
In this case, below the cockpit the grey line represents relatively smooth break (btw. I would draw the contour of canopy whole black, like the doors on ships), while between wings and exhaust, below the vertical stabilizer it's actually sharp break (at near 90deg. angle).

Of course that's just my understanding/opinion.

And then there is always the douple-blackline rule...

These kind of little details or more like how you solve proplematical details with the SB or FD scales are mostly down to individual artist choises. As long as they are in the limit of the drawingrules, IMO artistic freedom shouldn't be too much chained. In this case I weighted different variations and decided which was best to use.

Well yes that's the SB rule, but aircraft fuselages tend to be more curvy and shape-shifting along their length than the average ship superstructure! It's a matter of interpretation I feel. I've done both black and grey lower tailfin lines on various drawings.

All nice indeed, I have a question. Golly that ... argh what is the name of that bloody wing thing under engine exhaust ... are plain white ? On pics it is the same colour as hull.
