Thank you ace, this is the picture I found also. still leaves the question of rubberized dome unanswered. I have posted in the Leahy Facebook group a call for sonar techs to let me know if the dome was eventually rubberized or not

ok...corrected fonts, corrected (I HOPE) MK-141 and corrected deck houses. The deck house is split. I learned this from the Leahy Facebook group, I suspected this was the case but all the pictures are a little deceiving



I've still heard no word on the rubberized SONAR dome

I will work on the crest, so I can hopefully have it if my drawing is accepted for uploading

Also, just another newbie question; What do you all do with your progress pictures? To save room on photo bucket, I was thinking of deleting all my progress pictures. I do keep them in a file on my person computer for what ever future uses. However that will delete the progress pictures from my posts, correct? what is the word on this subject?

Re: typesetting sizes:

The closest I can get to the original PS spec is 10.5 point for the large, and 7.5 point for the small (this is what was used to generate that sheet). If you use a program that can not generate fractional typeface sizes, then 10/7 or 11/8 is acceptable.
As for getting Photoshop, I can say that when they shut down the CS2 validation server, there was a version that does not require registration posted to the Adobe Website for those who have not upgraded - It's behind a registration wall, but it's not a paywall. Also note, that it's for Windows (x86) and PowerPC Macs (not Intel Macs)
I personally leave the Works in Progress on the serve spaces (google, dropbox, personalFTP), but if you want to clear them up, go right ahead, and yes, they will be removed from your posts on the board.

A few other thoughts:

• That screw, generally, with the big bulky hub, is used to represent variable-pitch units like on modern gas turbine destroyers and cruisers. Here, it's probably not quite correct.
• I know SQS-26/53 had almost universally received rubber domes by this time. I do not have any data on SQS-23. Certainly by the end of their lives, many keel-dome units had received rubber windows. I would expect that bow domes would also have transitioned to rubber windows, but I cannot confirm at this time.
• That is the most up-to-date Mk 141.

ok. I think this is it....I feel as though I've said this before.... I would like to thank you all for pushing me to make sure this drawing is as accurate as possible. Also the Leahy group on facebook has been a tremendous help and I'm pretty sure in the future I will utilize that resource for other ships too.



I was thinking about doing some of the other ships in this class. Seems like each on is different from the next. Could be fun

just wanted to share this. It's a quote from someone very close to these ships. We all know this stuff but its cool hearing it from an unnamed source who knows his pooh pooh

"they were the ship that you didn't want to pick a fight with before the AEGIS ships came along. With 4-55B's, 48E and 49 with the SM2-ER's they could really reach out and touch someone. If I remember correctly they were able to do a launch on search and designate a director at terminal homing to allow them to fool the aircraft that they weren't actually acquired by fire control until it was too late. Very effective especially at longer ranges."

Probably the best NTU ships ever put to sea as far as AAW anyway
