Armoured covers is correct. I found this style on some of the german vessels here and used it pretty much from the beginning. The covers usually face down, so they often obstructed by the railings. This is really the first vessel that I have done where they face in so many different directions.

By 1941, the missing forward AA rangefinders had been installed, but not in the usual 'bobblehead' mountings, but in open platforms. Additionally, two smaller rangefinders were added near the aft superstructure. Also: Camoflage!
