what kind of sonar is it? it looks like an SQS-23, of which I drew an good example (possibly from lineart of this hull) and that one is on the USN systems sheet.

IIRC the only thing on your talbot which was not allowed were your regular rails. canvas coverings over these rails are allowed but follow the size of the standard rail (6 pixels tall) most of the time.

we always love it here if people draw an ship not at the end of their service life but start at the beginning and do a few versions for the other modifications. it is not necessary, but it is fun to do, as you learn a lot about the ship while you do so and if you research one year, it is an relatively small step to research others.

the mack outlines look ok to me, but the shading makes them look off and the connection points of the funnels look a bit wrong.

I appreciate your continued help ace. If you Download my ship and put your launcher and deckhouse on the ship you will see what I mean. I'm not saying your drawing is not right, but maybe each installation was a little different. I am working on fixes and hopefully I'll have a corrected version up soon

The deckhouses might have been slightly different (as a result of the different mods of the Mk 10), but the launcher arms were a constant design for all Terrier ships - this is something born out by the research I've helped Ace with.

ok, hold the boat...I was trying to use the deck house and launcher from Colosseum's Belknap and that's where I was going wrong. it wasn't fitting on my ship right. So I have used the other ones and they seem fine. here are my latest corrections

I will work on the aft mast tomorrow. Also I used a different MK-141 and this one does not look good at all. could I get a steer to the ones that are acceptable to use. I like the one that was here on my first drawing better than this one

hm. you must remove that thingy that are shown from the internal wive on you'r drawing on the aft launcher. It's that lift/rail thingy for transporting the missile from the magazine to the aft launcher.

This is a tricky problem without an obvious solution; as it is always said, anything you put on the internet is there forever.

What I'd recommend is the following. Depending on the operating system you use, make use of a drawing program that supports layers. Any time you draw or use a complex part that will cover up something else (so yes a Mk 141, not a freestanding radar or ship's screw), paste that into a clean empty layer. This way you can trade out the part if a better one becomes available, or if you uncover new sources in the future that make you go a little bit crazy at the previous version. This latter seems to happen all the time, even to those members who have been here since Shipbucket was nothing more than an email chain.

I use GIMP on Linux and Mac; I think most of my Windows colleagues use Paint.NET. Both are free, and powerful enough that you'll never reallllly need a feature you don't have at your disposal. Photoshop and the like are really not necessary.

The SQS-23 dome is now much more in line with the shape I would professionally expect to see for smooth, quiet flow.

as gollevainen said earlier in this thread, if you think the earlier ones were more accurate, there is nobody stopping you from doing so. ;)
and indeed, looking good. btw, check your PM's, I've send you some references.

note that the blue missiles are training rounds, you can keep them no problem but just keep that in mind when representing them.
also, yeah, there is a bit from the belowdeck part showing at the rear launcher.

colosseum's bainbridge is drawn with the old parts, so it might indeed mismatch a bit yeah :P in general, if you do not know the sources of the original drawing, try to use as less as possible from it. that way it is as accurate as you yourself can draw. in this case it is no problem, as there are few good sources and many parts are common between these classes, so just in general.....

OK Ace, I received your PM and those will come in very handy. Thank you :) I will have a go at my Talbot again :)

So this is my final on this one (I think) if its good enough I will template and credit. what do you all think?

I note the MK-141 is not exactly at the right angle, but I think this launcher best represents the angle it is at

I think it looks good. When you put it on template, if you have a particular year that the drawing represents please also place that after the ship's name.

the only thing I think should be checked is the underwater hull, when I get to my home again I will compare the belknaps with this one in friedmans.

Friedman (rather, A.D. Baker III) does not have a high-quality line drawing of Leahy in Destroyers. Meanwhile, I think the Mk 141 on the class pointed right aft, silly though that seems.
