eswube, not necessary need he shade that way. many famed artists on here, like TimothyC and Colo do not use this most of the time. what should be done though, is if he uses it on one spot, he should use it on all, or on none.
So far I believed it is necessary per rules, but maybe You're right, so I'm not going to argue.
Point is, however, that this drawing has such shading "used on one spot" (namely the front "wall" of the bridge) - so it should therefore have it elsewhere as well.

I generally only shade the rear of funnels or large citadel towers (and only if it's curved). I tried "highlight" shading, but I felt as though it gave a "hexagonal" appearance that I didn't like. The lack of gradients in Shipbucket style forces this.

Light comes from the bow, so these sides You've made darker should be lighter. ;)
And I think that unless these are smooth curves, they should be divided by contour.

while you noted you'd have an STIR forward, you don't have one on the drawing....
the STIR series can be found here: http://www.shipbucket.com/images.php?di ... ts%203.png

the same goes for the harpoon launchers. ow and, does anybody know if that lynx helicopter was ever approved for use? it doesn't look right to me.

It was not. Also, the helicopter should be shown as landed on the flight deck (because the ship has a hanger to embark said helo).
