Nice work Ace, it looks like were getting closer to the final article. I'm sure there was an RN Ikara magazine plan as an attachment on this site long ago, but when the attachments went so did the plan. I've never come across it again on the internet. I would agree with your Perth conclusion since the deck house is pretty wide too.

I have some drawings for the escort cruiser and different Ikara equipped never build ships in friedmans. interestingly enough, I think the magazine and loader on the leander seems to be actually smaller then the river class fit.......... and that of hms bristol seems to be the same way, as it in length is limited by the gun position. I wonder about their magazine loads and the size of the fitting room.....

updated the drawing on the previous page with the fit shown on the escort cruiser reference.
looking at this, it might be that the RN went for smaller magazine sizes as the chance on a not working missile was less (due to the fact that they could match torpedo and missile on board etc) or just because of their operation viewpoint, but it seems that the height of the magazine and handling room is higher (crane for the 'matching' mechanism?)
that the length of the fitting room is shorter is not that surprising, as the river class were an refit and thus might have had different requirements. it throws new light on the perth though.....

The extra height might have something to do with the RNs nuclear requirements.

that is what I meant with the 'matching' equipment, the crane or something for building up the torpedo/NDB and the missile together.....
thinking now, the drawing of the magazine might be interpreted as them both being stored separately above each other instead of what I drew.

Ace, don't know if you've seen these or not but check out this page. The old middle-watch website is dead but the drawings are attached to the post. They include a useful comparison of ASW systems and magazine layouts all on basically the same hull. The Ikara magazine seems to show a double-decker hangar (two tiers of ten?).

I've seen the drawings, in different context, but that was the size I based the escort cruiser fit on (where I found them, these were labeled as escort cruiser, but I am going to label it CF 299 right now, as that makes more sense)
note also, one of these drawings has the common sea dart/Ikara launcher :O

I think they dated from circa-1962, so its possible that later changes were made to the magazine layout but its about the best we've got to go on. These were, as you say, more frigates than escort cruisers (originally they were mislabelled as Type 19 preliminary designs). An interesting set of proposals though.

the S-1850 drawing which you have to grab from the SMART-L drawing on the dutch parts sheet, maybe the belowdeck (belowdome) part for the type 988 radar. (this requires no redrawing, I keep out of what requires fixing/redrawing, don't have enough knowledge of these parts other then the ones already fixed)
